That Time I Sprayed Deodorant On My Face…
If you watch my YouTube Channel, you know that this week I posted a video in which I review the Flower Beauty Light Illusion Foundation, the Flower Beauty Get Real Serum Foundation, and one of Flower beauty’s most innovative products : the Jet Set Invisible Powder Spray.
Well, color me impressed miss Drew Barrymore! (creator of Flower Beauty Brand.) I usually don’t apply powder all over my normal-to-somewhat-dry-ish-skin, choosing instead to lightly stipple on a bit with a small brush on the parts that really need it, but this spray doesn’t necessarily lend itself to “spot powdering.” SO I embraced the adventure and applied all over my face. I was left with a light layer of powder which helped mattify my skin and extend the wear time of the two foundations I was trying. Now let me be clear, this does NOT feel like a setting spray….which is what I anticipated it feeling like. Some like to use a mattifying setting spray in lieu of using powder to avoid any possible cakiness. But setting sprays, to me at least, feel more like a seal, and at times even feel like I’m spraying alcohol or hairspray on my face (depending on how “long -lasting” they are meant to be.) This however didn’t feel like that… it felt a little cold, a little wet, and when I touched my face, it felt like I had lightly powdered it all over. (Tip… if you’re a makeup person who Ikes to do your eyes and lashes before applying foundation and powder, you might want to reverse your application if you’re planning to use this powder to avoid getting a slight white cast on your finished eye makeup.) Overall though…. I’m really impressed with this product!
The time I Sprayed Deodorant on My Face…
So, I mention in the video that applying the Jet Set Invisible Spray Powder reminded me of the time I sprayed aerosol deodorant on my face…. I was doing a Halloween show and playing a character with elaborate “spooky” makeup…. think “Glam-Bride-of-Frankenstein.” Well, under the stage lights it’s incredibly hot! While singing and dancing through dress rehearsals, I kept sweating to the point of my makeup starting to run a bit. One of my girlfriends in the dressing room said, “My friend who does drag says he sprays deodorant on his face after doing his makeup to keep it from sweating off.” (Anyone who does drag, that’s reading this, feel free to respond in the comments on whether or not you use this method!) I figured I might as well try it. So after applying my makeup I sprayed (Arrid XX Dry ) deodorant to my face. I often used it on my body to stay fresh and clean while performing, and I LOVED the scent, but it’s a whole other world when spraying it directly on your face. I’m not a huge fan of spraying something with a fragrance directly on my face, I’m not even really a fan of using airbrush makeup on my face because I find it somewhat uncomfortable to hold my breath, and not inhale any residual droplets of makeup (or deodorant) when I take a breath again. But I have to tell you. It WORKED! My makeup stayed on and I had WAY less sweat on my face in general. I only did it that one time though, because I just had a weird feeling about spraying something on to my pores that wasn’t specifically created for my face, and had a fear of breaking out if I tried it too many times, so alas… it was just that once.
But I was reminded of that moment when spraying on the new Jet Set Invisible Powder Spray, because it also has a (pleasant) scent, and has kind of that same cold, wet-but-dry- feeling that the spray deodorant did. But this HAS been created specifically of the face, so needless to say, I feel much more comfortable applying this to my face! Plus it gave the softest beautiful matte finish to my makeup.
